The Effect of Husband Support on the Use of Implant Contraceptive among Women of Reproductive Age in Dairi, North Sumatera Nova S. J. Sianturi, Heru Santosa, Lita Sri Andayani Masters Program in Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara ABSTRACT Background: The implant contraceptive is an effective, convenient, and reversible way to prevent pregnancy for up to 4 years. If the user decides to get pregnant, the user can get it removed at any time. The implant will not affect fertility or make it harder to get pregnant in the future. It is possible to get pregnant as soon as the implant is out. This study aimed to determine the effect of husband support on the use of implant contraceptive among women of reproductive age. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Dairi, North Sumatera. A sample of 86 women of productive age was selected for this study. The dependent variable was use of implant contraceptive. The independent variable was husband support. The data on implant contraceptive use were obtained from the family planning office. The other data were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by a simple logistic regression. Results: Women with strong husband support were more likely to use implant contraceptive (OR= 12.316; CI 95%= 3.739 to 40.568; p<0.001). Conclusion: Husband support increases the likelihood of women to use implant contraceptive.
