Abstract

Background: One of the government's efforts in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic is implementing vaccination program. However, this program received various responses from the public, some have accepted and others have rejected the COVID-19 vaccine. This study aimed to determine the factors that influence a person willingness to receive COVID-19 vaccination.

Subjects and Method: This was a descriptive and analytic study using cross sectional design conducted in Surakarta, Central Java, from September to October 2021. A total of 130 subjects was selected randomly from the general population. The dependent variable was willingness to use COVID-19 vaccine. The independent variable was knowledge about vaccination. The data were collected by a questionnaire and analyzed using Odds Ratio and Chi-Square.

Results: As many as (36%) of the study population were <20 years of age, 52% were 20-40, and 12% >40 years of age. As many as (8%) of the study population had completed Junior High School, 70% Senior High School, 9% Diploma Degree, 10% Bachelor\u2019s Degree, and 2% the Masters Degree. Knowledge about vaccination was positively associated with willingness to use COVID-19 vaccine, and it was statistically significant (OR=6.89; 95% CI= 0.44 to 0.62; p<0.001)

Conclusion: Knowledge about vaccination is positively associated with willingness to use COVID-19 vaccine, and it is statistically significant.
